NCOA v PCOA Approach

Most institutions use a National Change of Address (NCOA) service to identify alumni who may have moved, not understanding its shortcomings. NCOA is a service of the U.S. Post Office and relies on people completing a form to update their new location. It also limits it’s search to a small window of time, say 18-24 months.

Private Change of Address (PCOA) is a service JBellavance Consulting provides that relies on more comprehensive data from numerous sources. When someone moves, they may not complete an NCOA form, but they must update their address with their credit card companies, utility providers and others. Using these sources – we have a higher success rate finding and reaching alumni. And once we find them, we identify key attributes such as household income and wealth score – providing institutions with key information to prioritize their alumni outreach and requests.
